Principal training and indentured was gained under Mr. Dennis King, co-founder with his Father George who formed in 1927 G. King & Son (Lead Glaziers) Ltd. This firm being one of first 20th Century firms to specialize in conservation and became one of the most eminent of their time.
We have a wealth of Knowledge and experience, which has continually developed to provide the very best workmanship, using traditional materials. Second hand stocks of glass from varying times are salvaged, which can be used to match original glass where appropriate.
Being an accredited conservation studio, by The Institute of Conservation (ICON), we are able to undertake any project giving the confidence and backing of professional service. We also have access to a much larger area of knowledge and support direct from the Institute. We can therefore advise on the most up to date techniques available for particular and specific criteria.
Glass that has passed through our workshop/studio includes examples from. Painted and stained glass from the Medieval period, which includes examples from the architectural styles of Decorated (circa 1280 -1380), Perpendicular (circa 1380 - 1530), Cinque Cento and Renaissance (circa 1500 - 1550) right through the C17 & C18 Centuries and Victorian to the new commissions of the present day.
In order to preserve our glass heritage for the future. We are able to provide the complete service of glazier's reports (often needed for grant applications). Conservation records complete with photographic evidence and document support current condition and should any changes be considered for which the principle is for minimum intervention and reversal of techniques, these too are documented.
In this age of conservation, it is of paramount importance that glass although perceived durable, does deteriorate for differing reasons and is treated with the due care and attention is so richly deserves. Entrusting your arrangement of glass with our craftsmen will make sure it survives for generations to come.
